Greta and her puppies 15/10/22

Greta came into our care after she was found as a stray heavily pregnant. She gave birth to 2 angles and 5 puppies the night she came into our care. Greta unfortunately developed mastitis which quickly spread to all her teats. This meant the puppies could no longer feed from mum and babies. We attempted to keep mum and her babies together whilst hand rearing the puppies but Greta was becoming unwell. With us being unable to give medication to Greta and there being a risk of the puppies becoming unwell if they managed to feed from mum we unfortunately, we made the tough decision to separate mum and her babies to allow us to give Greta the best care.

The puppies are now being hand reared with one of our experienced fosterers. Greta is in a loving foster home getting the care and attention she needs.

Winter and her kittens 29/1/2022

Meet Winter and her 6 kittens!!
Winter was brought into us as she had been straying and living in a shed for sometime. Her elderly caretaker fed her regularly but unfortunately, they were not in the position to keep her especially as she was very heavily pregnant, so they reached out for help Winter settled into foster straight away and fell in love with her very own fluffy blanket.
It didn't take long for her babies to arrive and Winter gave birth to 6 healthy kittens a couple of weeks ago.
Winter has been under very close vet supervision with such a large litter, but she is doing very well and the whole family are making great progress.
Winter is a really lovely, snuggly girl who cuddles into you when you pick her up - just like she's giving you a hug She loves human attention when she decides she needs some much deserved R&R from her babies. She's a very attentive mother which is a huge relief for us and her foster carer.
We suspect this is not Winter's 1st litter but we can guarantee this will be her last!!

Angel - Blossom 6/2/2022

We can't go in to too much detail on how this baby came into our care as an RSPCA referral was made for all the remaining animals at the home. We hope the RSPCA can get on top of the situation and we have offered our support if they need our help placing any of the animals involved.

We were told she was 9 years old but we believe she is only young and devastatingly could also be pregnant.

She was immediately given a full pamper, health check and commenced on multiple treatments including pain relief, antibiotics, probiotics and eye drops and she is under very close supervision. We suspect back teeth problems but currently she will not tolerate the scope so the vet can have a good look. We will get a good look when she is stronger but currently she is eating plenty and now pooping well so we are going to let her finish her antibiotic course and go from there. What is certain is that we have a long road ahead to get Angel-Blossom on the right path to recovery

She is riddled in mites, has a terrible ear infection that may be caused by an abscess and likely has tear duct issues also.

The suffering Angel-Blossom has endured is unimaginable but this is now in the past...onwards and upward for our special girl

83 rats rescued 19/1/22

Over 80 fancy rats were rescued yesterday from a home where the breeding had got out of control. Our fab volunteers went to collect them and brought them back to HQ. We were lucky that the team at Bacchus Residents Rescue could meet us to help with initial assessments, sexing and they took on all the girls, the obvious critically ill rats and also a batch of boys under their rescue for which we are forever grateful for! This leaves us with over 20 boys and some more of these will be going to other rescues soon.
Many of the rats need treatment for respiratory infections, all will need mite treatments and quite a few others have other ailments of lumps, missing body parts and eye problems
This has been an intensive, harrowing rescue for all involved but also now very rewarding seeing them settle and explore their new, very much improved accommodation
Please wish all our ratties luck, already 1 of the females with Bacchus has given birth to a litter of pups but at least they will get the best start possible now.
