Fostering Terms and Conditions

You agree to foster the above animal until a permanent adoption home is found by Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary.

You understand that Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary will remain the legal owner of the above animal and are fully responsible for the animal whilst in your care.

You must complete an admittance form unless one has already been done for each rescue animal as soon as you take him/her in and keep this updated whilst the animal is with you.

Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary will provide all the necessary veterinary care including flea treatment, wormers, microchipping, neutering and any emergency veterinary care the rescue animal may need whilst residing with you, in return you will care for, water, feed and litter the rescue animal and attend to its needs.

We will aim to provide you with as much food and necessaries as we can, you may need to purchase some yourself at your own cost if you are unable to pick up from one of the rescue co-ordinators or they are unable to drop off.

If you decide to adopt the animal you must inform Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary ASAP, you CANNOT decide to adopt the animal if he/she is already reserved to a member of the public. Since the Covid crisis we have had to halt the practice of family and friends of the fosterer being able to formally adopt foster cats, particularly kittens, ahead of the general public. It is fair to say that there is a long waiting list of kitten adoptees, therefore family and friends will be required to apply in the normal way for adoptions

You must not sell/give away one of our rescue animals to ANYONE else, unless via adoption contract arranged through Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary.

You must keep the rescue animal inside your house and not let him/her outside at anytime.

Please inform us of any vacations you have booked in plenty of time for us to arrange for the rescue animal to be cared for by someone else.

Please provide good quality information about the rescue animal’s personality/homing needs so that Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary can advertise the animal for a suitable home.

Animals are NOT rehomed without virtual homechecks, formal telephone interviews and checks with google maps. Instead of meet and greet, potential adopters are homechecked first, passed for adoption by Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary then encouraged to use skype/facetime/zoom/telephone Q and A with yourselves to determine if this foster animal is suitable for their requirements. We do not allow adoptees to enter your house anymore and all adoptions are filled in on line with the charity rather than the fosterer and paid for BEFORE adoptees will be contacting you

The collection process of the foster animal also takes place outside the home. The adoptee will bring their own secure carrier, either plastic, wire or canvas, NOT cardboard and place it on your doorstep. You will wipe it down, place the animal inside the carrier, wipe it down again on the outside and place it back on your doorstep. At no time will you allow the new adoptee family into your home. Of course there can be as much chatter and advice as you want in the garden….these measures are for the protection of everyone and have been adopted by all proper rescue charities in the country.

Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary can remove the above rescue animal from your care at ANY time if we see fit to do so.

You must provide adequate isolation facilities for the first fourteen days to minimise virus and disease outbreak and can fully monitor progress in the first fourteen days with toileting, diet, sociability and normal behaviour

You have accepted that the charity has a strict gateway process for each foster cat before you receive the animal but that there is still the possibility of illness occurring

You have accepted that there is a degree of risk attached to this voluntary role and you are happy you can manage the risk in your own household

Now that the charity has opened its on site veterinary clinic, all cats and kittens are only allowed to be collected for adoption once they have been neutered, microchipped and received their first vaccination. Kittens will receive these at 9 weeks therefore there will be no rehoming of kittens before 9 weeks of age. We have virtually halted the practice of later recalling animals from their adoption homes for neutering to be done.

All our fosterers are expected to be mobile with their own vehicle or have immediate access to close family with a vehicle. Generally you will be expected to collect each foster animal from either a key gateway house or vet clinic, you will also need to collect supplies for the duration and to transport the foster animal to our clinic when vaccination and neutering are due
